CANVA BOARD FOR LOGO CUSTOMIZATION:

Here’s the board in Canva where you can edit and download the .png logo file (with a transparent background).

You will need to upgrade to a paid Canva account to do so. But the creative control is worth it.

Without repositioning the location of either text field, you will need to:

  • Write your chosen brand name in the editable field shown.
  • Keep both text items centered and in relation to one and other by selecting both (hold ‘shift’ + click on both items) and positioning them where the crosshairs align.

FREE IMAGE LIBRARIES:

These stock photo libraries offer some of the best free, well-curated collections for your website.

Download several images which best suit your brand identity and evoke the feelings you want to convey. Consider how each image you plan to use suits the page content, and whether it works better as a hero image, or as a panel in a below-the-fold section of your website.

In the next step, you’ll need to format for size in Canva, ensuring that the image covers the entire art board.

CANVA BOARD FOR HERO IMAGES:

Here’s the board in Canva where you can edit and download the .jpg files which will serve as your hero images – that is, the background images that will appropriately introduce each of your pages to your site visitors.

The dimensions of the art board in the Canva file are optimized for fullscreen images.

You don’t have to lead every page with a hero image, but where you opt to, this is how.

You’ll note that when the image is selected, the ‘filter’ or ‘adjust option appears. The same filter code can (and should) be used when optimizing any images, so as to maintain uniformity in your pallet.

CANVA BOARD FOR PANEL IMAGES:

Here’s the board in Canva where you can edit and download the .jpg files which will serve as your panel images – that is, the content images that will correspond with the copy featured along with it. The dimensions of the art board in the Canva file are optimized for these images.

You’ll note that when the image is selected, the ‘filter’ or ‘adjust option appears. The same filter code can (and should) be used when optimizing any images, so as to maintain uniformity in your pallet.

FLATICON FOR SOURCING CUSTOM ICONS:

Flaticon is a handy website wherein you can search for virtually any graphic icon you could need. I highly suggest that when searching, you do so under the ‘monocolor’ option, and keep your graphics in the same style family.

That is to say, they should look similar in line thickness and angle style.

If you opt for bubble-like graphics, you should stick to that, and the same goes for linear-style graphics, as well as oultine-style graphics and solid, filled in graphics.

Further, you can specify an icon’s color via hex code (i.e. #4286f4).

BEFORE YOU BEGIN DESIGNING:

Delete the INSTRUCTIONS, TOOLS, RESOURCES + FILES page and the HEARTFELTWEB.DESIGN homepage.

The XML file will include them, but they are not needed for your Heartfelt website.
